Two years ago during the exhibition SPIBS 2014 our familiarity with Grizzly 860 has happened. We just have tested another modification – Grizzly 820 with outboard motor Mercury Verado SCi (Racing) of 350 hp (read the article “Thunder and Lightening” in MBY #1/31, 2015). Since that time “Grizzly Technologies” has faced with an interest of potential purchasers to the same model but with stationary diesel engine. First of all it has been a demand from south regions, namely from the Volga region, where people go on boat for a long distance and have a need in speedsters. In such way Grizlly 860 Firestorm was born – a new flagship, even more comfortable for family rest on water.

Nowadays these two-cycle motors discontinue the line, and can be bought only on demand. Besides not wide range of Russian companies develop this theme at their own risk, exchanging underwater part of traditional motors with screw propeller into foreign water jet attachments.

This boat was to be used in high-latitude expedition in the Canadian portion of the Yukon River - the fifth largest artery in North America.

Mercury released an outboard six-cylinder Verado engine of 300-hp
The standard 6-cylinder Verado models include an electrohydraulic steering. Digital control system of throttle and shift mechanisms (SmartCraft Digital Throttle & Shift) is a standard for 4- and 6-cylinder models. Only electrical cables, but no cables or rods are connected to the motor. Control is made by "one finger", very smoothly, effortlessly and backlash.
35 hours with Mercury 40 motor
40-horsepower two-stroke Mercury engine has been selected for the next long-term tests on its "measured mile". Fresh model «40ELPTO (2)" had all the modern systems: oil injection, hydrorakes, electric starting, fuel recycling, etc. We stopped on the power of 40 hp for two reasons: the first one is mentioned in the editorial introduction to the number, and the second - is dictated by the permissible capacity on the motor boats - a "Delta-T", which was tested at the same time (see KiY number 184.). Two-stroke rather than a four-stroke model was chosen for reasons of greater affordability and familiar to ordinary powerboating driver, and most importantly - lower weight, which is important for easy installation on motor boats. Not the last argument was the ability to refuel with AI-92 fuel.
